Just over a two-hour drive from Yellowstone National Park, Fairmont Hot Springs Resort in Anaconda, Montana, is a rather quiet place. Its lack of five-star restaurants and big-city thrills may have a lot to do with why timeshare owners and resort guests keep coming back year after year.
Golfers and fishing fanatics, families with kids who love to play in the water, baby boomers and seniors wanting to soak away their aches and pains in the hot mineral water and perhaps enjoy a massage or two all find reason to enjoy the hot springs as well as the surrounding area attractions.
Naturally Heated Mineral Pools
Registered guests enjoy round-the-clock access to the four spring-fed pools in the complex, two indoors and two outside. The hot pools are maintained at a therapeutic temperature of between 100 degrees and 104 degrees Fahrenheit. The cooler pools, with lap lanes and shallow play areas, are kept at between 88 degrees and 94 degrees Fahrenheit. A spectacular 350-foot enclosed slide, open during daytime hours, empties into the cooler of the outdoor pools.
The slide requires a separate ticket. Daily admission tickets to the pools are also available to nonguests.

Fairmont Hot Springs Resort offers a total of 153 rooms, including 22 suites, two restaurants, a bar-lounge, a small gift shop, and a spa offering body work and massage.
Outdoors, in addition to the mineral pools, are an 18-hole golf course, a playground and petting zoo for children, tennis courts, and various lawn games.
President Barack Obama stayed in one of the resort's suites in April 2008, after which the resort named it in his honor. Guests who want to say they have slept in the same room can ask for suite 203, which offers a living room with flat-panel televsion, pull-out queen sofabed, recliner, chair with ottoman and a dining table and chairs as well as a small fridge and microwave. In the suite's bedroom is a king bed, television, and full bath.
Suite 3 is another celebrity suite, this one named for Ireland's President Mary McAleese, who occupied it during her visit to Montana in 2006. The two-bedroom, two-bath McAleese Suite sleeps up to six people. Newly remodeled according to the resort, the suite features a 60" plasma television in its living-dining room.
For self-catering accommodations, timeshare condos may be available at weekly rates in neighboring Fairmont Estates, which borders the golf course.

The surrounding area offers enough activities to keep even the most active family busy for a week or more.
Butte and Anaconda offer the historical remains of their copper mining past. At The World Mining Museum, families will enjoy Hell Roarin' Gulch, a recreated 1890s mining town of relocated historical buildings filled with authentic Butte-area antiques.
In Phillipsburg, The Sweet Palace presents live taffy-making and a plethora of other sweet treats that provide welcome refreshment after an hour of mining at The Sapphire Gallery nearby, where everyone finds at least one gem.
